Cocoa Beach Pier
I was playing with some old files that I didn't particularly care for, this is one of them. It is the pier on Cocoa Beach, FL. It is HDR then I added several filters to give it this look. LYLE

Colorful Aspen Trees
The aspen are turning fast, these were taken about a week apart and in different canyons. I think probably today finished them off, it has been raining and windy, that usually does it. Both of these were shot in manual. LYLE

John's Model A
Judi and I went to Walden, CO for her High School Reunion this week. While there I went out to shoot some photos. One of her friends asked where I was going, I didn't know so she called a rancher that had a bunch of old iron on his place. He couldn't understand why I wanted to take photos of his "junk" but agreed. This is what I saw, I really wanted to make it my next project. LYLE

Lake Michigan Firewood
This log was cut the right length for firewood it looks like it has been in the water quite awhile. I had to do a lot of work on it in Photoshop to save this image was hard holding my camera and had to use shake reducti on to save it then all the colors were so close to being the same I had to really work it over.

Channel 4 Backdrop
While out and about I noticed this Cheat Grass with the Wasatch Front in the background. I liked the scene so I sat down in the road and took the shot. I had to shoot it low to block the houses, fences, and basketball stands that were there. When I got home I sent it into Channel 4 News, they used it Friday evening as the back drop for the weather segment and even put my name on the screen. That made me smile and several of my friends have called or mentioned it to me as they see me. LYLE

Blue Bridge
Shooting at night is always fun. This is a natural land bridge in a park by that name, Natural Bridges National Park. I shot it at about 11:00 pm. I used a shutter time of 30 sec. and ISO 2000. LYLE
Hamburger Hill
This was near the camp site in Needles, UT. It is called Hamburger Hill but this is not the formation that it gets it's name from. Just a neat sandstone formation. LYLE
From our camp site
This was the view across the camp site where we camped. The two chimney rocks were called The Sitting Hen and The Rooster with the Hen on the left. This was taken late in the evening. Can't you just see John Wayne riding across this scene. LYLE
Rabbit Ears Reflection
I referred to this photo as Rabbit Ears Reflection, now I know that is not the actual name of the formation but it is descriptive. I found a small puddle of water that was about 2 inches deep, I could see all the way through it but at this lower angle I was able to pick up the reflection. LYLE

Winter Home for Birds
I hope. they have a good heater in their little house. I saw this birdhouse and thought wow a beautiful photo. I didn't like it because it didn't stand out. I worked on this a long time and learned how to do things in Photoshop I didn't know how to do. Leigh showed me the quick selection tool and I cut the background out and turned it B&W then I cropped the photo little bit.

Sparkling Ice
I went back to my favorite spot in Big Cottonwood Canyon yesterday with a friend of mine looking for ice covered cascades in the river but the warm weather has taken most of it away. There were a few little pockets of ice that has been protected from the sun by overhanging trees or rocks, this is one of them. I shot it in manual at f/40 but was not happy with the results. I just picked up a new application from On One and used it on this photo. It really brought out the contrast and deep colors along with the sparkle of the ice. LYLE

Lace and Water
I guess I don't have to tell you how cold it is here, you can see it. This is back up on the trail to Lake Blanch where we shot a few during your trip to Utah. I shot this in manual at f/20, 1/6 sec shutter, ISO 160, and 125 mm with my 70-300 lens. The reason I used f/20 was to close down the aperture so I could keep the shutter open just a bit to smooth out the water. I also really love the high pass sharpening function in Photo shop. I selected selective color and took all of the color including black out of the white to brighten up the water and ice. LYLE
Wind Tunnel
This is a Mayan Ruin that was part of a "wind tunnel". It was constructed so the wind would blow through it and create a sound much like a conch shell does when you blow in it. They used it as a navigation aid to help find the island at night when they were on the sea. I shot this with my Cannon Power Shot D10. LYLE
