Killdeer Eggs in Nest

The little lady left her nest so I took some shot of the eggs. I didn't disturb them and hand held my camera so I wasn't at the nest very long. The photo below was shot after this one so I didn't scare her off. 1/60 sec f7.1 AP ISO1000 Bruce

Nesting Killdeer

This little lady made her nest in the parking lot at work, my forman spotted it and marked it so no one would run over it. The tubing in front of the bird has a flag tied to it. I didn,t want to get too close so I had to crop this image so you could see the Killdeer. 1/3200 sec f7.1 AP ISO 1000 Bruce

Wanna Play Bumper Cars with Me?

Just playing with the shots and being silly, oh well, it is fun. This was taken from the 0 shot cropped to 36x12 and then bumped the red up with levels R only. LYLE

57 Pontiac

This is the 0 step of the photo below. I shot it as an HDR at: 2.0 sec, aperture priority, f8, ISO 320, 18mm with the 10-24 lens. The other steps were shot at shutter speed .5, 1, 4, and 8. I then tonemapped it with Photomatix and adjusted all of the colors in CS4 by adjusting the levels, curves of each RGB and then the individual saturation of the colors. LYLE

Tin Indian

That is not the name I would have chosen for this very nice 57 Pontiac but it was on the license plate so I used it. This very modified HDR was shot at the cruise-in that I was at the other night. You saw the 0 step, this is how I made it look to get it 'right'. LYLE

Utah Burning

This was captured from the street that Brent lives on, Brad's home is about halfway between where I was standing and the fire. It was refered to as the 'Machine gun fire' because it was started by gun fire at Camp Williams. It burned 4 houses before it was brought under control. I shot it with my 300mm lens and even hand held it but leaned on my cars tailgate. LYLE

Fall Over the Bridge

This HDR was shot in a little park diagonally across the street from the office called City Creek Park. The colors here at this time of year are spectacular, especially with just a touch of enhancement. LYLE

Hot Rod Pile Up

This started out as two sets of HDR's but I only took 4 shots of one of them. When I tonemapped I thought I had all five of them but I actually captured one from the first set and the other 4 from the last set. It still came out pretty cool, I even like it better than having it 'right'. LYLE

Soda Row Car Show

If you look close enough you will notice that the cars in this shot are not the typical kind you see on the road these days. It was at a hot rod cruise-in that I was at. I took the photo as part of an HDR but this is only one of the exposures. When tonemapped they are too noisy to use. This one allowed me to manipulate it a bit to get it to look okay. It has been so changed that the settings are unimportant at this time. LYLE

Gourds closeup

I discovered that when clicking on the first still life that it wouldn't enlarge so I went back and edited it. I posted this shot just to draw attention to the first one, you can now enlarge it also. This ia a different shot f13 1/4s macro

Provo Temple

This is where Judi and I were married 38 years ago. We were happy to have our seven children together last friday (not our anniversary) there to be with Nich and Danelle while Eliza was sealed to them, the adoption is now final. I also wanted to show you that I can take an HDR and bring it in 'normal'. This building is too sacred to mess with in the tonemapping process. LYLE

Jack-O-Lanterns

These little guys were lounging in my yard after my grandkids were here. It was a lot of fun watching them. LYLE

Flowers of Fall

I have allways though of flowers as being a part of spring. The leafs are starting to turn around here and these plants are in full bloom. f13 1/250s ISO400 72mm Bruce

Bee-autiful

I caught this little fellow pollinating these flowers when I was shooting flowers of fall. f13 1/320s ISO400 Macro Bruce

Into the Sunset

I just kept playing with this 5 capture HDR until it was so bizarre that I am not sure about it at all. It certainly has a very unique look. It is an old abandoned railroad passenger car that is out by the Great Salt Lake. It sits on a short span of rails and has fallen into this total state of decay. Enjoy, LYLE

under way to the fishing hole

I was shooting the oil platform when this fishing boat sped by so I shot it. I had my camera set on manual exposure and the exposure was horrible I decided to try and save it, I think it turned out pretty good. 1/400 f7 400ISO in camera raw I changed the exposure setting-2.5 and adjusted blue setting in color balance, in Layers I played with it in curves and cropped it. I like the touch of blue in the water. Bruce

You asked for it so you got it. Bruce

Off Shore Oil Platform

I am told this is where the first off shore oil platform was, I doubt that this is it . There wassn't a cloud in the sky and there was a haze in the air. It made a poor photograph so I tried to fix it in Photoshop. This is a 4 shot HDR then in layers I used curves , levels and filters. Bruce

Fisherman

Teach a man to fish and he will teach his wife so he doesn't have to. This couple was fishing while I was shooting so I snuck a shot of them in, and they didn't catch me. It was bright out and I was shooting into the sun at 4:00PM . This is Caddo Lake The locals call this the big lake. Bruce

Caddo Lake Drawbridge

Linda and I went to the. Louisiana side of Caddo Lake today. I shot this old drawbridge back in the early 90s was still in use it was only wide enough for one car. I only used it a couple of times. 3 shot HDR 22 mm f8 Bruce

Side Chapel at Cathedral

This little side chapel is in the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. I shot the image while with Danelle last spring. I hadn't looked at my older photos until recently but when I saw this series of shots waiting to be tonemapped I decided to try to generate an HDR. I had tried earlier by was not happy with the results. I thought this was worth sharing. I am amazed at the detail. LYLE

Grand Old Dame

These houses are commonly called 'Painted Ladies' but since this one isn't really painted, other than the trim I had to refer to her in another term. In fact the trim was being painted as I shot it, you can see that the trim was previously green. I like the new colors better. I shot this HDR at high noon then tonemapped it in Photomatix as usual. I am really enjoying this look that I have recently learned. LYLE

Colorful Shoreline

As Judi and I were walking around the shoreline of Silver Lake I noticed a nice little deck that was built out over the water. I walked out onto it and saw this scene. Judi was busy talking to a couple of people who were practicing their fencing skills, you meet all kinds on these trails. This HDR came out pretty nice with the fall colors in the background. With a circular polarizer on, the water is very clear and the sky is bright blue. It was shot at about 10:00 am. LYLE

Back Yard Deer

The dogs were barking yesterday I went out on the back porch and this deer was grazing. I couldn't believe it was still there when I came back with my camera. f5.6 160 sec Bruce

Colorful Sculpture

This sculpture is in a public garden area near one of the Trax stations on my route to work. I pass it every day and have become fastinated with it. I finally stopped at noon one day and took a few photos of it. They are all 5 shot HDR's. Unlike the others in this series, this one was hand held. You can see that I forgot about my tripod standing in the way so it is in the shot. I processed it in Photomatix using the Grunge setting and adjusted other settings to get the look I was after. Colorful Sculpture 1st Look

This is another view of a rather colorful sculpture that I shot at noon time. The sun was at full tilt in a cloudless sky, but somehow that is how I tend to shoot all of the time. LYLE

Colorful Sculpture Close Up

This is a little closer look at the sculpture seen in the last photos. I used the same starting point but changed the settings just a bit for a really wild look. I did use my tripod to get this shot unlike the first one. LYLE
