SLC in a Window

While walking back to work at noon I happened to notice this reflection in the window of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. All I had with me was my iPad so I used it and took this photo. I opened it in Photoshop and cropped out unwanted stuff and added a dark vignette. Not too bad for an iPad. LYLE

Nothing but the truth

Did I photoshop it? We may never know the truth, but this is in our back yard. It is a 5 shot HDR so I admit to using Photomatix on it. I do have to say that Photoshop CS6 is on my computer and I may have had it open when I was processing this photo. LYLE

Flaming Colors

Went into a really awesome slot canyon over the weekend. It was in a place quite close to home but I had never heard of before. The fall colors were in full bloom. I shot this in manual mode so I could shoot into the sun and still expose the canyon walls. I had left my tripod in the car just because I didn't want to carry it up the canyon so this is a single shot. LYLE

In Flight

This is another shot of that owl we saw in Williams, AZ. They had placed a small piece of food on another post to get it to fly. It was pretty exciting to have it fly so close to us. LYLE

Pathway to the flaming tree

The fall colors are quite nice up in the mountains, not started down here yet. This is a 5 shot HDR which really helps get the colors bright. LYLE

Horned Owl

This wonderful owl was in an aviary and was performing a flying demo. It was sitting on it's handlers arm when I shot this. I was standing about 3 feet from it. It didn't like having its picture taken so it was scowling at me. I used my 70-300 lens at f/5.6, 1/4000 sec, ISO 3200, in manual mode. It was in full shade and the bird was fairly dark so that is why I shot it that way. LYLE

Big Dipper over the Canyon Wall

This was shot at about 10:00 PM in almost entire dark. I set the time for 24 sec, ISO 5000, f/2, and 24 mm with a 24-120 lens. The light was coming from a bus that passed that lit up the handrail and trees. The canyon wall was lit from light trespass from the village that was to my right. The stars seemed to be right in my lap. So beautiful even the photos don't do it justice. LYLE
