The Cattle Guard

Just inside Colorado coming from Laramie is a ranch called Table Mountain Ranch, this cattle guard keeps unwanted critters out (couldn't keep me out). The camera was set at f/5, 1/5000 shutter, ISO 400 in aperture mode. I sat on the back bumper of the Explorer to take the shot. I also did a lot to it in Photoshop CS4.  LYLE

  1. This is interesting all the cattle guards around here are to keep animals in not out and are made of pipe not train rails and wood, they also have gates and looks to keep people out. the background looks like there should be indains hiding behind the rocks, is that what happened to your scalp? 2. Okay, so that is the difference between Texas and Colorado. We try to keep them out while you keep them in. (Define 'them' as tourists) The Loveland Indians were actually quite nice and even offered to come to Texas to help me get revenge. (I explained to them that I had this younger adopted male sibling that had been rather hair raising to me.) LYLE

  3. I love the colors and the textures from everything in this. I feel there is too much tension between the gate and the edge of the photo. Either leave some space or actually crop it, but it shouldn't ride up there right agains the edge. It pulls my focus every time I look at it.

Do I criticize too much?? You know I love you.

  4. I see Danelle got technical which is good. I think a little more room on the right side would have helped a little but when I look at it my eye is drawn from the cattle guard to the edge where the clouds and sign bring my eye to the rocks in front of the sign and then back to the cattle gaurd.
