This was shot as an HDR but rather than tonemapping in Photomatix I used the fusion method and then bumped up a bit of the contrast and colors to get it the way I like them. LYLE (dreaming of warmer places)

Try Shooting These Piers

Colorful Pier
I have been in sub freezing weather so long now I am also looking for warmer places to be. Cocoa Beach was one of them even though it was in a record breaking cold spell when we were there almost 2 years ago. After I tonemapped the HDR there was an area of the waves that was blown out. I probably would not be able to enlarge this due to the clone stamping I did to hide the area that was gone. I also used PhotoScape to give it a pastel filter. LYLE

Cocoa Beach Pier Totem
This little totem was located below the counter on the refreshment bar on the pier. It caught my eye just as we were leaving the area. I had to almost lay down on the pier to get the shot. I turned the areas around it to black and white to get a little better contrast for it. ISO 400, shutter 1/180, f/5 aperture priority. LYLEFriday, January 8, 2010
Cocoa Beach Pier
This 5 shot HDR came out pretty well considering all of the movement in the water. It is under the pier on Cocoa Beach, FL. I set the EV to +1 and made just a few adjustments in Photoshop to tone down the reds in the stains on the pilings. LYLE
