Printing Press

This is in the Church History Museum in SLC. It is the press that the first copies of the Book of Mormon were printed on. I shot it essentially in the dark. I used my D200, 18-135 at 22mm, EV +1, ISO 1600 in aperture priority. It is a 5 shot HDR processed in Photomatix Pro. I turned down the tone to get it to look like an old photo shot in sepia color.  LYLE

4th Dimension

This is a ceiling detail in the North Visitors Center on Temple Square. It is one of the buildings that I would like you to have the opportunity to photograph. It is a 5 shot HDR stepped 1.3 at f/4.  LYLE

Abandoned in the surf

As I was shooting the pier at Cocoa Beach, FL I had to run from the waves to keep my feet dry and warm. I didn't intend to abandon my camera and all of my gear but that water was COLD! I shot this with Judi's Cannon point and shoot.  LYLE

Eagle Gate Revisited

So Danelle, is this better? I had to clone stamp out a stop light that was way ugly and this time I was able to wait until there were no cars in the scene. You can also see the Church Administration Building and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building beside Brigham Youngs residences. The Salt Lake Temple is out of sight due to these buildings.  LYLE

Pelican

I had my 70-300 lens on set at 70mm, this little guy was close enough that I could have easily grabbed it.  It kept a close eye on me though.  Aperture priority, 1/2000 shutter, f/5, ISO 500.  LYLE

Cocoa Beach Pier Totem

This little totem was located below the counter on the refreshment bar on the pier.  It caught my eye just as we were leaving the area.  I had to almost lay down on the pier to get the shot.  I turned the areas around it to black and white to get a little better contrast for it.  ISO 400, shutter 1/180, f/5 aperture priority.  LYLE

Eagle Gate

This is called The Eagle Gate, it stands at the intersection of State Street and South Temple in SLC. Just to the left of it stands the Beehive house and next to it the Lion House. They were residences of Brigham Young. The big building in the background is where I work. This is a 5 shot HDR +1 EV, f/8, tonemapped with PhotoMatix.  LYLE

Fireworks at Magic Kingdom

I had my tripod in the Magic Kingdom so I set the D200 on shutter priority with a 2 1/2 second time and just shot away everytime a firework went up. Got lots of photos but very few that I really liked.  LYLE

Flamingo Bay

This came out far better than I expected, I was sitting in the back of a safari truck at Disneyworld and had to shoot over the heads of several people.  LYLE

Disney Oriental Gate

I shot this just as the sun was setting, it was mostly in shadow but you can see that the background is still sunlit. I didn't have my tripod with me at the time so I had to hand hold it. I also did not modify it in any way in an editor other than to tonemap it, you can see that some of the birds moved and left 'shadows' behind.  LYLE

Disney World Castle

I originally shot this for a HDR but used only the +1 EV. It generated too much noise in the blacks to tonemap it. I really like the way it came out as a single shot. I guess not everything has to be HDR.  LYLE

Cocoa Beach Pier

This 5 shot HDR came out pretty well considering all of the movement in the water. It is under the pier on Cocoa Beach, FL. I set the EV to +1 and made just a few adjustments in Photoshop to tone down the reds in the stains on the pilings.  LYLE

Two Point Buck

This little buck was with about 8 does in a thicket of scrub oak in the south east part of the Salt Lake valley. Judi and I went for a ride just to get out and see a bit of the world and came across them. I finally got him out in the open. I did have to crop to get it to be close enough, the 70-300 was at the end of it's limits. I set it to f/4.5 and +1.3 EV in aperture mode.
